AgriLÅ«m® Agricultural Supplemental Lighting
While the human eye can detect a broad range of wavelengths of light, only a portion of the light spectrum is used by plants. We have engineered the AgriLÅ«m® series of agricultural growth lights to provide the optimal spectra for plant growth to stimulate controllable growth at the lowest possible cost. The 100 Watt AgriLÅ«m® emits light primarily in the main chlorophyll absorption regions, ensuring that all of the light produced is useable by the plant for photosynthesis.
A 100 Watt AgriLÅ«m® irradiates 3 sq meters at a distance of 1 meter from the canopy. It emits white light for general plant growth, and 4 specific wavelength peaks: deep blue (450-465 nm), blue (465-475 nm), red (620-630 nm), and deep red (660-680 nm). Each wavelength is individually controllable via a simple interface with our custom, database-driven power distribution control software.
Each AgriLÅ«m® provides the photosynthetically equivalent luminous flux as a 2000W High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp. The HID lamp produces a broad spectrum of light, much of which is photosynthetically unusable. The AgriLÅ«m® is rated for 100,000 hours of continuous use, and produces far less heat than HID, all of which is convectionally removed away from the plant canopy (LEDs irradiate no IR, nor do they produce UV- neither of which is true of the HID lamp). Moreover, the AgriLÅ«m® uses 1/20th the electricity that the HID bulb uses. The AgriLÅ«m® device contains no mercury. The AgriLÅ«m® is designed to be completely compatible with direct connection to most solar systems, without the use of costly and inneficient inverters. This allows growers to dramatically reduce their reliance on electricity generated by fossil fuels.
The AgriLÅ«m® is an ideal light for general horticultural use in green houses to replace the current HID, HPS, and Metal Halide technology, and an excellent tool for research on the effects of varying wavelengths of light on plant growth (foliar growth versus flowering, for example). We are actively seeking academic collaborators to explore the effects of varying wavelengths of light to optimize plant growth.
CBI is commited to using technology for energy conservation, facilitating alternative energy sources, and eliminating the effects of mercury that are released into our environment due to the use of various gas discharge lighting sources (fluorescent, CFL, HPS, & etc.).
